Conforming loans are a type of mortgage which the underlying terms and condition meet the criteria set out by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are two government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) thta buy mortgage from lenders and sell them to investors. All Conforming loans are considered conventional mortgages.
Loans that do not conform to GSE guidelines are referred to as “non-conforming” mortgage loans.
